New Delhi, Apr 20: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday held a bilateral meeting with South Korea’s President Lee Jae Myung at Hyderabad House in New Delhi as part of the latter’s three-day state visit to India.
The meeting focused on strengthening strategic and economic ties between India and South Korea amid ongoing global uncertainties. Discussions covered a wide range of sectors including shipbuilding, trade, investments, artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors, critical and emerging technologies, as well as people-to-people exchanges.
Prior to the meeting, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said that the talks would aim to deepen bilateral cooperation and also address key global developments.

“The visit of President Lee underscores the shared aspiration of both countries to further strengthen existing areas of cooperation while expanding collaboration in new and emerging sectors of mutual interest,” the MEA said in a statement.
President Lee arrived in New Delhi on Sunday, marking the first visit by a South Korean President to India in eight years. The three-day visit is expected to provide momentum to efforts aimed at enhancing the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), with a target to double bilateral trade to USD 50 billion by 2030.
During an interaction with the South Korean community on Sunday, Lee noted that economic cooperation between the two countries remains below potential and needs to be expanded.
“Going forward, we will expand that space and make the relationship between South Korea and India completely different from what it is now,” he said.
Earlier, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar welcomed the visiting leader and expressed confidence that the visit would further strengthen ties between the two nations.
“Value his commitment to deepen India-Korea relations across multiple domains,” Jaishankar said in a post on X.
