Trump warns Iran over ceasefire violation, threatens strikes

Daijiworld Media Network – Washington

Washington, Apr 20: Donald Trump on Sunday accused Iran of violating a ceasefire amid ongoing negotiations with the United States to end the seven-week-long conflict.

Claiming a breach in the Strait of Hormuz, Trump alleged that Iran had fired shots targeting vessels, including a French ship and a freighter from the United Kingdom. “That wasn’t nice, was it?” he remarked.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump warned that Iran could face extensive strikes on its infrastructure if it failed to agree to what he described as a “fair and reasonable deal.” He cautioned that rejecting the proposal could lead to a large-scale military response.

Trump also claimed that Iran’s actions were harming its own economy by disrupting movement through the Strait of Hormuz. He stated that the closure was costing Iran heavily, while asserting that the United States faced no losses.

Highlighting changing trade patterns, Trump said several ships were now heading towards US ports, including those in Texas, Louisiana and Alaska, attributing the shift to actions by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Reiterating both warning and negotiation, Trump said the US was offering a “fair and reasonable” deal, but warned of severe consequences if Iran refused. He further announced that US representatives would travel to Islamabad for fresh talks, expected to begin soon.

The previous round of discussions held in Islamabad last week had failed after Iran rejected US demands for immediate curbs on uranium enrichment.
