Bike overtaking dispute turns deadly in Ahmedabad’s Dhandhuka; Arson erupts, 17 arrested

Ahmedabad, Apr 19: A dispute over a bike overtaking incident escalated into violence in Dhandhuka town of Ahmedabad district, leaving a 35-year-old man dead and triggering incidents of arson and vandalism.

According to reports, tensions flared following the fatal assault, leading to an enraged mob setting fire to shops and vehicles. The sudden outbreak of violence forced traders to shut down their establishments as panic gripped the area.

Police teams, led by District Superintendent of Police Om Prakash Jat, rushed to the spot and deployed a strong force to bring the situation under control.

Authorities have arrested two accused, identified as Sameer and Rizwan, in connection with the murder. Additionally, 15 others have been taken into custody for their involvement in the subsequent arson and vandalism.

Police said the situation is now under control, and further investigation is underway.
