New Delhi, Apr 15: Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha’s Z+ category security cover provided by the Punjab Police has been withdrawn, sources said on Wednesday, amid his growing rift with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
Chadha, who represents Punjab in the Rajya Sabha, had earlier been accorded the high-level security by the state government. Sources said the cover was withdrawn last week, and he has now been provided central security.
As an interim measure, the Delhi Police has been directed to provide him protection until a formal central security arrangement is finalised.

The move is being seen as politically significant given the ongoing tensions between Chadha and the AAP leadership. The party had recently removed him from the post of deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha, prompting Chadha to respond that he had been “silenced, not defeated”.
Party leaders have accused him of failing to raise Punjab-related issues in Parliament and of opting for “soft PR” instead of taking an aggressive stand against the Centre.
Chadha, however, has rejected the allegations, calling them “lies” and maintaining that his role in Parliament is to raise public issues constructively rather than disrupt proceedings. He also denied claims that he avoided key opposition actions such as walkouts or signing notices against constitutional authorities.
Since his removal, Chadha has shared a series of social media posts and videos signalling a strong pushback. In one instance, he commented “interesting thought” on a video suggesting he should float his own political party, fuelling speculation over his future political course.
He also posted an image of a book chapter titled “Never Outshine the Master”, widely interpreted as a veiled reference to AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal.
In another post, Chadha shared a video titled “Voice Raised Price Paid”, showcasing clips of his interventions in Parliament. “With due respect, to those who are questioning my parliamentary performance, I will let my work do the talking,” he said.
