20-year-old drowns during picnic in Goa’s Mhadei river

Panaji, Apr 12: A tragic incident occurred in the Panaji region, where a 20-year-old youth, identified as Rajat Kankonkar, drowned while visiting the Mhadei River near Bhironda in Sattari.

According to sources, the youth had gone for a picnic with a group when the accident took place. He reportedly slipped into the river and drowned before he could be rescued.

After search efforts, his body was recovered from the river and sent to the Community Health Centre Valpoi for post-mortem and further formalities.

Authorities are expected to conduct further inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
