Mumbai, Apr 11: Even decades after its release, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge continues to capture hearts worldwide, with actress Kajol once again expressing her love for the timeless classic.

On Friday, Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences shared a post on X highlighting some of the most iconic romantic films centered around travel. The list included titles such as The Holiday and Eat Pray Love, alongside the beloved Bollywood hit “DDLJ.”

The Academy also invited users to vote for their favourite travel romance, prompting a quick response from Kajol, who simply wrote, “I vote for DDLJ.”

The film, starring Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan, has long been regarded as one of Indian cinema’s most enduring love stories. Its global appeal was reaffirmed last year when the duo unveiled a bronze statue of their characters in London’s Leicester Square to mark 30 years of the film.

Reflecting on its legacy, Kajol had earlier said that the team never anticipated the film would become such a cultural phenomenon. Over time, it has evolved into a symbol of nostalgia and identity, particularly for Indians and South Asians living abroad.

She also noted that the film holds a unique record, being one of the longest-running movies in cinema history and earning a place in global record books—further cementing its iconic status across generations.
