New Delhi, Apr 9: India has consistently demonstrated remarkable resilience during global crises, not only weathering challenges but emerging stronger and more dynamic, said Shaktikanta Das, principal secretary to the Prime Minister, on Thursday.
Addressing the AIMA National Leadership Conclave in New Delhi, Das highlighted how India’s trajectory through turbulent times showcases its capacity to grow even under pressure. “In every crisis, the nation has not just endured but has strengthened in tangible ways,” he remarked.

Das noted that the global economy currently faces significant uncertainty, shaped by geopolitical tensions, supply chain disruptions, and uneven regional growth. “The risks globally are skewed towards the downside,” he said, while underscoring India’s resilient economic performance despite these headwinds.
Highlighting key economic indicators, Das said India achieved a real GDP growth of 7.6% in FY26, with an average growth rate of 7.8% over the past five years. He emphasized that the country’s resilience stems from its ability not only to withstand shocks but also to transform during challenging periods. Critical factors contributing to this strength include macroeconomic stability, coherent policy-making, infrastructure expansion, and strong domestic demand.
Addressing inflation, Das stressed that rising prices disproportionately affect the poor and that maintaining low inflation is vital to preserve consumer purchasing power and overall economic stability. He also praised India’s balanced policy approach, where fiscal and monetary measures were implemented when necessary and withdrawn timely to prevent economic excesses.
Further, Das pointed to structural transformations in the economy, including accelerated digitalisation, infrastructure growth, and rapid expansion in sectors such as electronics and semiconductors. On the international front, he noted that India’s strategy of maintaining strategic autonomy and diversifying partnerships has minimized reliance on any single country, strengthening its global position.
