Mangaluru, Apr 6: The inaugural function of Physio Week 2026 and the blood donation camp was successfully organized by Mangala College of Physiotherapy in association with Manglore physiocon 2026 on April 6 at the Mangala college premises in Mangaluru.
The programme commenced with a soulful prayer, invoking blessings for the success of the event and the well-being of all attendees. This was followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries, symbolizing the dispelling of darkness and the beginning of knowledge and service.





A warm welcome was then extended to the dignitaries and participants, followed by the formal inauguration by M A Gafoor, chairman of the Karavali Development Board, government of Karnataka. The event was graced by distinguished guests of honour, including CA Shantharam Shetty, chairman of the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), D K District, and Dr U T Ifthikar Fareed, chairman of the Karnataka State Allied and Healthcare Council.
The function was presided over by Dr Ganapathi P, chairman of MGEI, along with Dr Anitha G Bhat, vice-chairman of MGEI, both of them shared their insights on the importance of physiotherapy and community health initiatives. The highlight of the inauguration was the ceremonial unveiling, where chief guest was invited to reveal a specially prepared ceremonial prop symbolizing the commencement of a celebration.
The event emphasized the significance of physiotherapy in promoting health and well-being, alongside the critical role of voluntary blood donation in saving lives. The blood donation camp witnessed active participation from students, faculty, and members of the public, reflecting a strong spirit of social responsibility.
The blood donation drive witnessed overwhelming support,with around 200 student registered for the blood donation campaign. The programme was efficiently convened by Dr Bharath K H, principal of Mangala College of Physiotherapy, and was organized under the banner of the South Canara Physiotherapy Teachers Association (R). Overall, the inaugural function set a positive tone for Physio Week 2026, highlighting the institution’s commitment to healthcare awareness and community service.
