Pak defence minister warns India of strike threat amid tensions

Daijiworld Media Network - Islamabad

Islamabad, Apr 5: Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif on Saturday warned of a retaliatory strike targeting Kolkata in case of any “future misadventures” by India, escalating rhetoric between the two neighbours.

Speaking in Sialkot, Asif alleged that India could attempt a “false flag operation,” but did not provide any evidence to support the claim. He said Pakistan would respond strongly if such a situation arises.

Earlier this week, Asif had stated that Pakistan’s response to any attack would be “swift, calibrated, and decisive.”

The remarks come in response to statements by India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who had warned that any provocation would invite an “unprecedented and decisive” response.

Tensions between India and Pakistan remain strained following the aftermath of the Pahalgam attack, which had triggered a brief four-day conflict between the two countries.
