Kochi, Apr 2: The Malayalam film Vaazha 2 is showing promising early signs at the box office, registering strong advance bookings ahead of its release.

According to industry tracker AB George, the Day 1 pre-sales for the film were nearing the Rs 1 crore mark as of 4 pm on April 1, indicating solid audience interest. The film, a sequel to the 2024 hit Vaazha, hit theatres on April 2.

The sequel has secured a wide release across nearly 290 screens in Kerala, making it one of the biggest releases for a film led largely by newcomers and backed by a first-time director.

Trade observers attribute the strong buzz to the film’s engaging trailer and the popularity of its lead actors, who are known social media content creators.

Starring Hashir H, Alan Bin Siraj, Ajin Joy and Vinayak V, the film continues the journey of four young men navigating adulthood, societal expectations, and personal growth. The story explores their transition from carefree youth to responsible individuals amid family and social pressures.

Actor Aju Varghese, who plays a key role, shared an interesting insight into his working style. In a recent interview, he revealed that he often does not go through the full script, instead relying on brief narrations and instinct while performing.

Directed by Savin SA and written by Vipin Das, the film also features Alphonse Puthren and Vijay Babu in important roles.

With strong pre-release traction and wide screen presence, ‘Vaazha 2’ is expected to open well at the Kerala box office.
