Barabanki, Mar 29: More than 30 people, including children and elderly attendees, were hospitalised following suspected food poisoning after consuming non-vegetarian dishes at a wedding ceremony in Barabanki, officials said on Sunday.
The incident took place on Saturday evening in Lalapur locality of the Dewa area during a wedding hosted by Mohammad Nazim, a resident of Khijna village.

According to health officials, guests began experiencing severe abdominal pain and vomiting within half an hour of consuming the food served at the event, triggering panic among attendees.
Dr Awadhesh Yadav said an ambulance was rushed to the spot after locals alerted authorities. All affected individuals were initially admitted to the Community Health Centre in Dewa.
While most patients are undergoing treatment at the CHC, six have been referred to the district hospital for further medical care.
“Treatment is being provided to all affected individuals. Some have been discharged after their condition stabilised. A detailed investigation is underway to determine the exact cause,” Dr Yadav said.
Officials have collected food samples from the venue for laboratory testing, as health authorities continue to probe the source of contamination.
