New Delhi, Mar 28: A full emergency was declared at Indira Gandhi International Airport after an IndiGo flight from Visakhapatnam reported a suspected engine failure on Saturday.
The flight (6E 579), a Boeing 737-800 aircraft carrying 161 passengers, was placed on priority landing as authorities activated emergency protocols and put Runway 28 on high alert.

According to the Delhi Fire Services, fire tenders were rushed to the airport immediately after receiving information about the emergency at around 10.53 am.
The aircraft landed safely at around 11 am, and all passengers were evacuated without any injuries, officials said.
In a statement, IndiGo said a “technical snag” was detected shortly before landing, following which the pilots sought priority clearance in line with standard operating procedures.
The incident comes weeks after a similar emergency involving a SpiceJet Delhi-Leh flight, which had to return due to an engine issue. Boeing 737 aircraft, particularly those fitted with CFM56 engines, have recently faced scrutiny over repeated technical concerns reported by airlines globally.
Authorities said further checks are being carried out, though the timely response ensured passenger safety.
