New Delhi, Mar 27: In a symbolic move during the ongoing West Asia conflict, Iran has inscribed messages thanking the “people of India” on missiles launched towards Israel, visuals of which have surfaced online.
The footage, shared by the Consulate General of Iran in Mumbai and Iranian state media, shows personnel from Iran’s Aerospace Force writing notes such as “Thank you to people of India” on missiles using blue markers before launch. Similar messages were also addressed to people in Spain, Pakistan and Germany, indicating a broader outreach effort.
The visuals were reportedly captured during what Iran described as the 83rd wave of its military campaign under Operation True Promise 4, carried out by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, according to Iranian network Press TV.

In a statement, the IRGC said the latest strikes targeted key American and Israeli military assets across the region. These included oil storage facilities in Ashdod, military sites near Modi’in, and a US military information exchange centre. Strikes were also reported on American bases such as Al-Dhafra, Al-Udeiri, Ali Al-Salem Air Base and Sheikh Isa Base. Iran claimed it deployed a mix of long- and medium-range missiles, precision-strike systems and drones, asserting that the operation was successful.
The messaging comes amid relatively warm ties between India and Iran during the conflict. Iranian authorities recently allowed safe passage for Indian vessels through the strategically significant Strait of Hormuz, even as restrictions remain for ships linked to the United States and its allies.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi described India as a “friendly” country, stating that Indian ships would not be blocked despite the heightened tensions.
The gesture also follows humanitarian support from India, particularly from Jammu and Kashmir, where civilians have organised donation drives to aid people affected by the conflict in Iran. Contributions have included cash, jewellery and essential items, with several stories of personal sacrifice emerging.
In one widely shared instance, a Kashmiri woman donated gold preserved for nearly three decades in memory of her late husband. The Iranian Embassy in India acknowledged such acts, expressing deep gratitude and stating that the support would “never be forgotten”.
The mission also highlighted a gesture by Indian children who donated their piggy banks to support students of Minab School in Iran, calling it a symbol of compassion and solidarity amid the crisis.
The development underscores India’s delicate diplomatic position — balancing humanitarian sentiment, longstanding ties with Iran, and broader relations with the United States and Israel. India has consistently called for dialogue and diplomacy to resolve the conflict, which escalated following US-Israel strikes on Iran on February 28.
