Ranchi, Mar 26: A series of bomb threat emails targeting key government offices and court complexes sparked panic across the state on Thursday, prompting heightened security measures in multiple districts.
Authorities confirmed that threatening emails warning of explosions were sent to the Ranchi Collectorate, as well as civil courts in Dhanbad and Sahibganj. The alerts led to immediate action by police and security agencies, with the affected locations placed under tight surveillance and turned into high-security zones.
In Ranchi, a threat received on the Deputy Commissioner’s official email triggered an extensive search operation at the Collectorate, carried out by bomb disposal squads over several hours. Similar operations were conducted in Dhanbad and Sahibganj, where court proceedings were disrupted amid safety concerns.

In Sahibganj, police teams led by Amit Kumar Singh evacuated the Rajmahal and Sahibganj court complexes, while sniffer dogs were deployed to thoroughly scan the premises.
This marks the second such threat to the Dhanbad Civil Court within two weeks, intensifying anxiety among legal professionals and the public. Earlier threats included emails referencing “cyanide bombs” and “RDX” explosives, with similar messages reported from the Bokaro Civil Court and a Passport Seva Kendra.
Preliminary investigations by police suggest an inter-state connection, with the emails suspected to have originated from Tamil Nadu. A person identified as Uday Reddy has emerged as a key suspect. Officials believe the threats may be linked to personal grievances stemming from a legal dispute, though they are also examining the possibility of a wider network.
A special team from Jharkhand Police is set to travel to Tamil Nadu to apprehend the ?????. Meanwhile, security has been tightened across sensitive locations in the state, with additional forces deployed and precautionary measures such as metal detectors being installed.
