Karkala: Christ King English Medium School inaugurates week long summer camp 'Vortex Venture- 2026'

Karkala, Mar 24: A week-long summer camp titled “Vortex Venture – 2026” was organised for students of the primary and high school sections of Christ King English Medium School at the institution’s newly inaugurated auditorium.

The camp was formally inaugurated by Fr Robin Joyson, assistant parish priest of St Lawrence Basilica, Attur, who lit the ceremonial lamp to mark the beginning of the event. Addressing the gathering, he emphasised the importance of such camps in nurturing creativity and skill development among students.

Yaksharangayana Karkala director, Venkatramana Aithal, who attended as the chief guest, encouraged students to actively participate in all activities available to them and shape a bright future.

The programme was presided over by Rudolf Kishore Lobo, headmaster of the primary section. In his address, he described Vortex Venture as an inspiring journey aimed at energising young minds through learning, creativity, and adventure.

The camp, scheduled from March 23 to 30, features a wide range of activities including meditation, yoga, aerobics, eco-warrior initiatives, magic shows, cooking sessions, basket weaving demonstrations, handicraft making, music, theatre arts, adventure sports, health check-ups, outdoor trips, and exhibitions of ancient artefacts.

The programme, which began with a welcome address by Jayalakshmi, was compered by Vijeta Jain, and concluded with a vote of thanks.

Sr Shalet Sequeira, institutional counsellor; Lakshminarayana Kamath, principal of the pre-university section; Josna Snehalatha, headmistress of the high school; Kiran Crasta, administrator; Dayananda, president of the college PTA and Udaya Ravi, president of the primary PTA among others were present on the occasion.
