New Delhi, Mar 23: Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s briefing in the Lok Sabha on the ongoing West Asia conflict, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra stated that “nothing new” was disclosed and reiterated the party’s demand for a full discussion on the matter.
Speaking to reporters outside Parliament, she said, “He has briefed the House today, and he has not spoken anything new. We have submitted a notice for a discussion. We think that discussion is important so that all sides can present their stand.”

During his address, PM Modi highlighted India’s efforts to ensure uninterrupted energy supplies amid rising tensions in West Asia. He noted that India has diversified its energy imports, now sourcing from 41 countries compared to 27 in earlier years, covering crude oil, LNG, and LPG.
The Prime Minister stated that India currently imports around 60 per cent of its LPG requirements. Given supply uncertainties, the government has prioritised domestic consumers while simultaneously boosting domestic LPG production. He also assured that petrol and diesel supplies across the country continue to remain stable.
On the broader conflict, Modi reiterated India’s commitment to diplomacy and peace. He condemned attacks on civilian, energy, and transport infrastructure, including commercial ships and international waterways such as the Strait of Hormuz, calling them unacceptable. He stressed that India is actively engaging in diplomatic efforts to ensure the safe passage of Indian vessels.
“Dialogue and diplomacy are the solution to this problem. All our efforts are aimed at reducing tensions and ending this conflict.
Danger to anyone’s life in this war is not in the interest of humanity. Therefore, India’s effort is to encourage all parties to reach a peaceful solution as soon as possible,” Modi added.
