Mumbai, Mar 23: Actor Kareena Kapoor Khan has dismissed reports suggesting that her cousin Ranbir Kapoor is planning to revive the iconic RK Studios, founded by legendary filmmaker Raj Kapoor.
Reacting to the rumours, Kareena said the reports were “not true” and revealed that the matter had even been discussed within the family. She noted that while many would like to see the studio revived, Ranbir is currently focused on his acting career.
“That's just not true. It was even being discussed in our family group, and everyone was like, ‘This isn't happening.’ I feel people really want it to happen. Ranbir is focused on acting,” she said.

Kareena also praised Ranbir, calling him one of the best actors in the country, and added that she does not see herself taking up a producer or director’s role. She, however, hinted that Ranbir and her sister Karisma Kapoor could consider the idea in the future.
Earlier reports had claimed that Ranbir was planning to revive the banner and make his directorial debut, along with developing a creative slate under the RK Films name.
The studio, established in 1948 in Mumbai, holds immense sentimental value in Indian cinema history. Its last production under the banner was Aa Ab Laut Chalen (1999), directed by Rishi Kapoor.
The studio’s decline began with the rise of newer facilities in Mumbai’s suburbs, and a major fire in 2017 caused extensive damage, including the loss of memorabilia and film archives. The property was later sold to Godrej Properties in 2019.
