Woman killed, seven injured in ropeway crash at Chhattisgarh temple

Mahasamund, Mar 22: A 28-year-old woman was killed and seven others injured after a ropeway trolley crashed while descending from a hilltop temple in Chhattisgarh’s Mahasamund district on Sunday.

The accident occurred at the Khallari Mata Temple in Khallari village under Bagbahra area when the cable of the trolley snapped around 10 am, officials said. The trolley was carrying eight passengers returning after offering prayers during the Navratri festival.

The deceased was identified as Ayushi Satkar from Raipur. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Authorities have launched an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the mishap.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed grief over the incident, describing it as “extremely heartbreaking and distressing.” He extended condolences to the bereaved family and directed officials to ensure proper medical care for the injured.

The Chief Minister also assured that a thorough probe would be conducted and strict action taken against those found responsible.
