Dabolim, Mar 22: Tensions escalated at the Prabhu Violetta residential complex after residents alleged that untreated sewage water was being discharged into the garden area despite prior directions from authorities to stop such practices.

Following complaints, a team of Goa Police from Vasco rushed to the site on Saturday morning and conducted a spot inspection.

The issue has intensified concerns among residents, who are already dealing with 158 reported cases of diarrhoea and suspected contamination within the complex.

According to residents, the alleged discharge was noticed in the early hours, prompting immediate alerts to the police and local authorities. One resident said he witnessed sewage water being pumped into the open garden area while he was inside the premises.

He claimed that authorities, including the police and the Chicalim panchayat, responded promptly and observed the situation on site. The waste was also allegedly diverted into an adjoining property owned by the same builder.

Police officials carried out a panchanama to document the incident, while residents urged authorities to take strict action against those responsible.

The development has further fuelled anger among residents, who have been raising repeated concerns over untreated sewage discharge and its possible link to the ongoing health issues.
