Salman greets fans on Eid as Salim Khan makes first appearance after hospitalisation

Mumbai, Mar 22: Bollywood actor Salman Khan continued his Eid tradition by greeting fans from the balcony of his Mumbai residence, joined by his family members in a warm and festive moment.

This year’s celebration was especially significant as his father, veteran screenwriter Salim Khan, made his first public appearance after being discharged from hospital on March 17 following nearly a month of treatment. Seated in a wheelchair, he waved at fans gathered outside.

Salman was accompanied by his mother Salma Khan, brothers Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan, sister Arpita, and other family members. The actor kept it simple, dressed in a brown shirt and off-white trousers, as he greeted fans with folded hands.

He also shared a video message on social media wishing everyone on Eid, thanking fans for their blessings and expressing gratitude over his father’s recovery.

Salim Khan, 90, had been admitted to Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital on February 17 after suffering a minor brain haemorrhage and underwent a medical procedure. The family had maintained privacy during his treatment.

Several film personalities, including Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Ranveer Singh and Sanjay Dutt, had visited him during his hospital stay.

Meanwhile, Salman’s upcoming film has undergone a title change. Initially titled Battle of Galwan, it has now been renamed Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace. Director Apoorva Lakhia said the change reflects the film’s deeper focus on humanity and the emotional sacrifices of soldiers.

Reports also suggest the change may be linked to the sensitive diplomatic context surrounding India-China relations, with certain elements in the film reportedly toned down.

In the film, Salman will portray Bikkumalla Santosh Babu, the commanding officer of the 16 Bihar Regiment who lost his life during the Galwan Valley clash. The movie also features Chitrangda Singh, Zeyn Shaw, Ankur Bhatia and Vipin Bhardwaj.
