Ghaziabad, Mar 20: Six individuals have been arrested by police in Ghaziabad for their alleged links to a spying network connected with Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), officials said.

Police said the accused were involved in installing CCTV cameras at key locations to transmit live footage of army movements, including routes, troop deployment and equipment.

According to investigators, Sohail Malik, identified as the mastermind, has been taken into custody along with a woman named Mehak, who allegedly maintained contact with ISI handlers and coordinated tasks among the group.

Authorities have seized mobile phones, electronic devices and documents from the accused. Preliminary findings suggest that CCTV cameras were installed at sensitive locations, including the Delhi Cantonment railway station and Sonipat railway station, with plans to install cameras at around 50 sites.

Police said the breakthrough came after suspicious activity was flagged by personnel from the Kaushambi police station, leading to questioning and further digital analysis, which revealed links to the alleged network.

Meanwhile, a family member of one of the accused claimed that his son was coerced into involvement, alleging that Sohail had threatened to kidnap his daughter if he did not procure SIM cards.

Police said further investigation is underway to establish the full extent of the network and its operations.
