Kolkata, Mar 20: A six-month pregnant woman was allegedly murdered by her husband in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, police said.
The victim, Puja Mondal (24), was found dead at her residence in Lenin Nagar area of Garulia on Wednesday evening. Her body had been wrapped in plastic and hidden under a bed.

Police have arrested three persons in connection with the case, including her husband Rishi Harichand, his mother, and another family member. A case of murder has been registered, and the body has been sent for post-mortem.
According to the complaint filed by her family, Puja was allegedly killed after she refused to meet her husband’s monetary demands. Preliminary investigation suggests that she was strangled with a piece of cloth, following which the accused attempted to conceal the crime.
Sources said the couple had been married for about two years and that Puja had been facing harassment over money since marriage. Despite being pregnant, the alleged harassment continued.
Police said an argument broke out between the couple on Wednesday morning after she refused to give money. When her family could not reach her, they visited her in-laws’ house and later alerted police, who recovered the body from under the bed.
Further investigation is underway.
