Panaji, Mar 19: The Goa government has reported a total of four cases related to alleged illegal religious conversions or attempts over the past five years, according to data tabled in the Legislative Assembly.

In a written reply to an unstarred question by MLA Carlos Ferreira, Chief Minister and Home Minister Pramod Sawant informed the House that no such cases were registered in 2021, 2024, and 2025.

However, two cases each were recorded in 2022 and 2023.

The figures indicate that instances of alleged forced or unlawful religious conversions have remained minimal in the state during the period under review.

The government also submitted an annexure containing further details, including information on FIRs, accused persons, and the current status of the cases.

The disclosure comes amid ongoing debates on religious conversions, with the state placing official data on record to reflect the situation in Goa.
