Kundapur, Mar 18: A voluntary mega blood donation camp was successfully organized at Moodlakatte Institute of Technology Kundapur (MITK) in collaboration with the Lions Club Hanglur and with the support of the Indian Red Cross Society, Kundapur.
The program commenced with the lighting of the lamp followed by a prayer song, setting a solemn and meaningful tone for the event. Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, president of the Red Cross Society, S Jayashankar Shetty, emphasized the importance of blood donation and its health benefits. He expressed happiness that such camps have been consistently organized in the college for the past 10 years. He noted that donated blood serves as a lifeline for many patients and even soldiers in need.

Another guest, president of Lions Club Hanglur, Sandeep Shetty, described blood donation as the ‘greatest donation’ and urged students to actively participate in saving lives. He also highlighted various social service initiatives carried out by the Lions Club.
College principal Dr Ramakrishna Hegde extended his best wishes for the success of the camp. Director Dr S N Bhat termed blood donation a noble act and an opportunity to repay society, adding that a single unit of blood can save up to three lives.
On the occasion, Vijay Poojary, who has donated blood 107 times, was present along with other members of the Red Cross and Lions Club.
A large number of students from the college actively participated in the camp by donating blood. NSS coordinator professor Gagan Bangera welcomed the guests. The programme was compered by student Mahaprabhu, while Ronith delivered the vote of thanks.
Faculty members from all departments, students, and staff of the Red Cross Society played a significant role in organizing the event. Overall, the mega blood donation camp was conducted successfully with enthusiastic participation.
