Margao, Mar 16: Fatorda Police have registered a case against three persons for allegedly cheating and forging documents in connection with a property matter in Margao, Goa.
The FIR was filed following a complaint lodged by Prakash Ganapathi Bhat, managing director of Varnada Industries Pvt Ltd, Mumbai.
According to the complaint, between June 18, 2024 and August 9, 2024, the three accused persons, including a notary, allegedly forged the complainant’s signature and prepared a false affidavit and no-objection certificate at the office of the Mamlatdar of Margao.

Bhat alleged that the documents were created fraudulently without his presence or consent. The accused then allegedly attempted to submit the forged documents before the Mamlatdar of Margao, Salcete, for the mutation of a property located at Sao Jose de Areal.
The complainant stated that the property had already been sold to his company on June 18, 2024 through a transaction registered at the office of the Sub-Registrar Salcete-Margao and is currently mortgaged with a bank.
Police have registered a case under Sections 318(4), 336(3), 338 and 340(2) read with Section 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023. Further investigation is underway.
