New Delhi, Mar 10: The central government on Tuesday sought approval from the Lok Sabha for gross additional expenditure of over Rs 2.81 lakh cr in the current financial year.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman tabled the second batch of Supplementary Demands for Grants in the Lower House.
According to the proposal, Parliament’s approval has been sought to authorise gross additional expenditure of Rs 2,81,289.26 cr.

Of the total amount, proposals involving a net cash outgo aggregate to Rs 2,01,142.96 cr. The remaining Rs 80,145.71 cr will be met through savings of various ministries and departments or through enhanced receipts and recoveries.
The Supplementary Demands for Grants are presented to Parliament when the government requires additional funds beyond the amount originally approved in the Union Budget for the financial year.
