Udupi, Mar 9: St Cecily’s English Medium Higher Pry School (CBSE) celebrated International Women’s Day on March 07 with great enthusiasm. A meaningful variety entertainment programme was presented by students of grades 4C and 5C with creative guidance by teachers Sandra Vazand Benita D’Souza.

The students commenced the programme by seeking graceful blessings from the Almighty on every hand that rocks the cradle. An enthralling welcome dance made the audience feel the spirit of the event. This was followed by a melodious wishing song, exhilarating dance ‘Nari Shakthi - the power of women’, a powerful mime show depicting women empowerment and feet tapping performance which motivated women to chase their dreams.

The chief guest of the event Evenish D’Souza- faculty member, accompanied by Sr Preethi Savitha D'Souza- vice principal, Sr Priya Maria Pinto-kindergarten co-ordinator graced the event as dignitaries and gave away the Best Sapling Award to deserving classes.

In her keynote address to the students, Evenish admired every woman’s invaluable contribution to the society. She highlighted the various roles a woman gracefully executes- as daughter, sister, mother, career woman etc. as a true agent of change. Motivating the girl students to be strong, compassionate and fearless in pursuing their dreams, she also urged the boys to regard, respect and support the women in their lives for all their countless and loving services.

The kindness and goodwill of students who contributed generously towards the needy and noble causes on the occasion of their birthday during the year were also recognised and appreciated with citations by the chief guest.

The effective programme truly showcased the roles, rights and radiance of women in the world.
