Udupi, Mar 6: The national-level inter-collegiate techno-cultural fest titled “Varnothsava - 2026” will be organised at Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology & Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, Udupi, on March 11 and 12, featuring a wide range of competitions exclusively for engineering and management students, followed by the Annual Day celebrations on March 13 and the alumni day on March 14 as part of the four-day celebrations.

The fest is structured under three major segments cultural carnival, technical carnival and business carnival attracting participants from various institutions across the country.

The cultural carnival will feature events including Bhava Taranga, Janapada Nada, ThakaDhimiTha, Groove Gala, Speech of Smiles, Who Am I, Hands of Art, Anime Arena, Musical Marathon, Nature’s Palette, Kala Sangama, Silent Symphony, BannadaPrapancha, Art of Tune, Sketch Chronicles, JAM, Shutterverse and Cinecapture.

The technical carnival will include algorithm roulette, prompt to product, electro detectives, fastest line follower, clash of radiants, hack hunt, pitchathon, wright brothers, robo soccer and BGMI.

The business carnival will comprise money matters, visionary ventures and the ultimate biz team.

The inaugural ceremony of Varnothsava 2026 will be held on Wednesday, March 11 at 9:30 am at the Open-Air Auditorium, SMVITM. The programme will be conducted with the divine blessings of H H Shri Vishwavallabha Theertha Swamiji, president, Shri Sode Vadiraja Mutt Education Trust, Udupi. Deepak Nayak, lead engineer, ClearFeed, Bangalore, will be the chief guest, and Snehal V Rao, quantity surveyor, Simons and Associates, Udupi, will be the guest of honour. The inauguration will formally mark the commencement of all fest competitions.

On the evening of March 11, a college band performance will be held at the Open-Air Auditorium, adding a vibrant musical start to the celebrations and energizing the campus atmosphere.

On Thursday, March 12, the valedictory function of Varnothsava 2026 will be held at 3:00 pm at the Open-Air Auditorium. Winners of various events conducted under cultural carnival, technical carnival and business carnival will be felicitated during the ceremony.

Later in the evening on March 12 at 5:30 pm onwards, Team Yakshasinchana of SMVITM will present a grand Yakshagana performance at the Open-Air Auditorium. The event will celebrate Karnataka’s rich cultural heritage through vibrant costumes, traditional music and expressive storytelling, offering a spectacular cultural experience to students, alumni, parents and the public.

Annual Day celebration at SMVITM, Bantakal

The Annual Day celebrations of SMVITM will be held on Friday, March 13 at 3 pm at the Open-Air Auditorium. The programme will be blessed by H H Shri Akshobhya Ramapriya Theertha Swamiji, junior pontiff, Balagaru Akshobhya Tirtha Samsthana, Thirthahalli. Dr H S Raghavendra Rao, founder, chairman & managing director, DCX Systems Ltd, Bengaluru, will be the chief guest. The function will include prize distribution and recognition of academic and co-curricular achievements of students and staff.

The final day, Saturday, March 14, will be celebrated as alumni day at SMVITM. The day will feature Moto Mania and a live musical performance by Tarana - The band, bringing the four-day celebrations to a grand and energetic conclusion.
