Students of SMVITM won prizes in project competition

Udup, Mar 4: Students of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology — Bhushan Poojary, Shreekiran Bhat, Shreyas Acharya, Amrutha, Vishritha, and Prajwal Gulvadi from the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science — participated and secured third place in Vijnatham Utsav 2026 (13th Edition), a national-level competition held on February 19 and 20 at Sri Adichunchanagiri Mahasamsthana Math, Mandya, Karnataka.

The projects were evaluated based on creativity and innovation, scientific principles, technical skills, societal impact and scalability, economic viability, and presentation.

The winning project was presented under the theme ‘AI and IoT in Agriculture for Food Security (SDG 2 – Zero Hunger)’. The project, titled ‘CROP MATE: Multilingual Crop Detection Based on Sensor Values,’ focuses on smart agriculture using AI-based analysis and IoT technology. It integrates soil sensors and automated recommendations to improve crop yield and promote sustainable farming practices.
