New Delhi, Mar 3: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday inaugurated the two-day Flower Festival organised by the New Delhi Municipal Council at Connaught Place’s Central Park, drawing large crowds to the colourful showcase of seasonal blooms.

The festival began with a brief ceremony attended by NDMC officials and citizens. The event features a variety of floral arrangements, landscaped exhibits and horticultural displays aimed at promoting urban gardening and green awareness.

Gupta congratulated NDMC officials, stating that the civic body has helped build Delhi’s green and positive image.

“People used to go to Kashmir to get their pictures clicked with tulip flowers; now they don’t need to go there. Central Delhi has ample tulips,” she said.

She also praised NDMC’s efforts during major events such as the G20 and the AI India Impact Summit, noting that the council has maintained cleanliness and planted thousands of tulips during such occasions.

Urging other civic agencies to take inspiration, the Chief Minister said NDMC has emerged as a model for creating green spaces. She added that if needed, horticulture departments of other agencies would be sent for training under NDMC and assured full government support to enhance greenery across the capital.

Families, office-goers and morning walkers were seen visiting the park throughout the day to admire the displays and take photographs. NDMC officials said the festival will continue on March 4, expecting steady footfall over the two days.
