Mumbai, Feb 27: Months after reports surfaced that actor Janhvi Kapoor moved from Dharma Cornerstone Agency (DCAA) to Collective Artists Network, filmmaker Karan Johar has spoken candidly about the challenges of talent management in the film industry.

Janhvi is not the only star to have switched representation. In the past, actors such as Ranveer Singh and Parineeti Chopra also exited the talent management wing of Yash Raj Films after long associations.

In a recent interview with Sarthak Ahuja, Johar described talent management as a “thankless job,” stating that loyalty is rare in the highly competitive entertainment business.

“Every two years, people are shifting from one agency to another because they are so insecure that they feel we are time bound. Nobody is loyal in this business, actors just keep hopping and skipping,” he said.

Johar added that agencies often invest significant time and effort in nurturing talent, only to see them move elsewhere. “You put two years of your life into a talent and they suddenly move somewhere else. Then they don’t like it there and they want to come back to you. This is a vicious circle,” he remarked.

His comments have sparked fresh discussion within industry circles about the evolving dynamics between actors and talent management agencies, where career growth, visibility and project opportunities often dictate professional alignments.
