Mangaluru, Feb 24: St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru organized Echoes of the Hills – North East Carnival on Friday, February 20, at the open-air stage. The colourful event celebrated the rich culture, traditions, and heritage of North East India.

Dr Hem Prasad Nath, senior student activity & sports officer at National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal, graced the occasion as the chief guest.

Dr Nath encouraged students to stay connected to their cultural roots and be proud of their traditions. He spoke about India’s unity in diversity and appreciated the carnival that showcased the rich culture of the North Eastern states. He also advised students to use mobile phones responsibly, warning that excessive use can distract them from their studies and personal growth.

Sr Dr M Venissa AC, principal, presided over the programme and appreciated the efforts of the organizers in promoting cultural awareness and inclusivity.

Haominlun Singson, electrical engineer at Cochin Shipyard Limited, attended the event as the guest of honour and motivated students to explore opportunities beyond boundaries while staying grounded in their values.

The programme featured vibrant cultural performances, traditional dances, music, and exhibitions representing the North Eastern states. A colourful ramp walk showcased the traditional attire of different states where students from NITK Surathkal, KMC, Manipal University, St Aloysius College (Deemed to be University) participating in the performance. The event was witnessed by the deans, heads of departments, faculty members, and students.
