TEDxStAloysius 2026 kicks off at St Aloysius with inspiring talks and thought-provoking insights

Mangaluru, Feb 21: The inauguration of the 5th edition of TEDxStAloysius 'Unwritten threads of thoughts' was held at St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) in the LF Rasquinha Hall, LCRI Block on Saturday, February 21st.

The chief guest of the programme, advocate P Ranjan Rao, along with other dignitaries on the dais inaugurated the event.

Addressing the gathering, advocate P Ranjan Rao expressed his gratitude to the vice chancellor, Dr Praveen Martis SJ and Dr Dinesh Nayak, staff convenor for the invitation, remarking that returning to Aloysius is always a matter of great joy and pride. Calling himself a proud Aloysian, he stated that education remains the most powerful medium in nation-building. He conveyed his firm belief that every student who graduates from this institution possesses the potential to scale great heights and contribute meaningfully to society.

Guest of honour, Gavin Mathias, CEO, Mathias Aluminium Systems Pvt Ltd in his speech spoke about the effects of fear on our thoughts, how it rarely presents itself as fear but comes as a logical thought. He quoted “The most powerful shift in life doesn't begin with applause; they begin with thoughts- invisible, unwritten, unspoken”.

Presiding over the event, Dr Praveen Martis SJ, vice-chancellor, St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) highlighted the significance of the fifth edition of TEDxStAloysius and acknowledged the valuable support of the staff and students. He encouraged students to understand the journeys of the speakers and draw inspiration from them rather than imitate them, noting that success is built on persistence, hard work, perseverance and passion. Quoting Dr A P J Abdul Kalam, he reminded students that dreams lead to thoughts and then to actions, urging them to apply Aloysian values in their chosen fields.

The list of 10 speakers for TEDxStAloysius 2026 includes Hritik Sharma, an entrepreneur, educator and podcaster, Simrun Chopra, a certified nutritionist and fitness coach, Mariyam Hussain, prominent fashion stylist, influencer and content creator, Dr P P Devan, a veteran ENT specialist. Leeza Kiran Rodrigues, educator, wellness practitioner and media host, Advika Shetty, nationally recognised dancer, actor and Yakshagana artiste, Zabi Khan, an Indian animal rights activist, a United Nations awardee and a Padma Shri nominee, Prashanth S Nayaka, founder of ChaayaArtLight, award-winning filmmaker, photographer, cinematographer and storyteller, Colonel Arun Iyer, Indian Army veteran and Hemant Sharma, co-founder of Claygrounds by Plaza, multifaceted sports entrepreneur and influencer.

The gathering was welcomed by Dr Dinesh Nayak, staff convenor. The vote of thanks was delivered by Aldrina A M, staff co-convenor. The event was efficiently compered by Sheba Ann Saju.

The second day of TEDxStAloysius 2026 will take place on February 22 at the LF Rasquinha Hall, LCRI Block beginning at 9:30 am. The day will feature a dynamic lineup of speakers from diverse fields, promising insightful discussions and a memorable experience for all attendees.
