Gandhinagar, Feb 20: Engineering and construction major Larsen & Toubro’s data centre arm, L&T Vyoma, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Gujarat Department of Science & Technology to explore setting up a 250 MW green AI-ready hyperscale data centre campus at Dholera with a proposed investment of Rs 25,000 crore.

The pact was announced during the India AI Impact Summit 2026, where Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi termed the development a “giant leap in AI infrastructure” for the state.

In a post on X, Sanghavi stated that the Department of Science & Technology, Government of Gujarat, had signed the MoU with L&T Vyoma to establish the 250 MW Green AI-ready Hyperscale Data Center Campus at the Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR). He added that the initiative would strengthen Gujarat’s position as a leading destination for AI, cloud and sustainable digital infrastructure.

Earlier, on February 16, L&T Vyoma launched its Sovereign Cloud Platform (SCP), positioning it as an AI-first cloud infrastructure designed to meet rising enterprise and public sector demand for data sovereignty, regulatory compliance and secure AI adoption.

At the summit, L&T also unveiled a joint venture with Nvidia to build a sovereign, scalable gigawatt-scale AI factory infrastructure.

The proposed venture aims to scale Nvidia GPU cluster deployment at L&T’s Chennai-based data centre up to 30 MW capacity within its 300-acre GW-scalable campus, along with a new 40 MW data centre in Mumbai, which is currently under execution.

The initiative, aligned with the IndiaAI Mission, is intended to provide production-grade AI capacity for enterprises, policymakers, industry leaders and global stakeholders, supporting India’s digital and industrial transformation.

According to the company, the AI factory will integrate L&T’s engineering and infrastructure expertise with Nvidia’s AI infrastructure, including GPUs, CPUs, networking, storage platforms, AI enterprise software stack and reference architectures to enable rapid and secure AI adoption.

“It will deploy AI-ready data centre infrastructure, advanced computing platforms and ecosystem enablement required to support large-scale AI workloads across priority sectors,” the company said.

While the investment amount for the AI factory was not disclosed, L&T Chairman and Managing Director S N Subrahmanyan said the initiative would establish the foundation for secure, scalable and sovereign infrastructure required to power manufacturing, energy, financial services, healthcare and public services.
