Delhi metro rail corporation to prioritise students during CBSE board exams

Daijiworld Media Network – New Delhi

New Delhi, Feb 20: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Friday announced special measures to facilitate smooth travel for students appearing for the 2026 Class 10 and 12 board examinations conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

In a post on social media platform X, DMRC said arrangements have been made to ensure hassle-free commuting for candidates during the examination period. The CBSE board examinations commenced on February 17 and will continue till April 10.

With lakhs of students travelling across the national capital, DMRC, in coordination with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), is implementing special facilitation measures at metro stations to manage increased footfall on exam days.

Measures Announced by DMRC:

• Students carrying valid CBSE admit cards will be given priority during frisking and security checks at metro stations.

• Priority will also be extended at Ticket Office Machines (TOM) and Customer Care (CC) centres for ticket purchases upon showing admit cards.

• Special centralised announcements will be made at metro stations to assist students.

This year, over 46 lakh students are appearing for the Class 10 and 12 board examinations at more than 8,000 centres across India and abroad. While Class 10 exams will conclude on March 10, Class 12 exams will end on April 9.

CBSE has advised students to reach their examination centres by 10 am, factoring in traffic, weather conditions and travel distance.

Meanwhile, CBSE clarified that appearing in the first Class 10 board examination is mandatory for all students. Those who miss three or more subjects in the first examination will not be eligible to appear for the second examination. The clarification followed multiple representations from students citing inability to attend the first examination for various reasons.

Authorities have urged students to plan their commute in advance and carry valid admit cards to avail the facilitation measures.
