Mumbai, Feb 18: Despite receiving mixed reviews, O Romeo, starring Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri, has managed a steady run at the box office in its opening week.
After capitalising on the Valentine’s Day weekend, the film witnessed a dip in collections during the weekdays. According to early trade estimates, O Romeo earned around Rs 5 crore on Tuesday (Day 5), taking its total domestic collection to Rs 39.9 crore.

Directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, the film hit theatres on February 13, just ahead of Valentine’s Day. It opened with Rs 8.5 crore on Friday and saw a significant 48% jump on Saturday, collecting Rs 12.65 crore. However, Sunday witnessed a 28% drop, with earnings of Rs 9 crore.
The downward trend continued into the week, with Monday bringing in Rs 4.75 crore, followed by Rs 5 crore on Tuesday.
In terms of occupancy, the film recorded 8.65% in morning shows, 14.31% in the afternoon, 15.23% in evening shows, and a stronger 26.50% during night shows.
On the global front, the film has fared comparatively better. As per trade tracker Sacnilk, its worldwide gross stood at Rs 53.3 crore as of Monday.
Though facing limited competition, the film is sharing screens with Tu Yaa Main, starring Adarsh Gourav and Shanaya Kapoor, which has collected approximately Rs 4 crore in five days.
Despite its slowing momentum, O Romeo has already surpassed the lifetime domestic collections of several earlier Shahid Kapoor films, including:
• Badmaash Company (Rs 34.98 crore)
• Phata Poster Nikhla Hero (Rs 36.37 crore)
• Deva (Rs 33.90 crore)
The film has also reportedly crossed the lifetime earnings of Rangoon (Rs 39.80 crore), another Shahid-Vishal Bhardwaj collaboration.
However, it remains to be seen whether O Romeo can overtake the total worldwide collections of their earlier hits Kaminey (Rs 70.40 crore) and Haider (Rs 79.20 crore).
Trade analysts say the film’s performance in the coming weekend will be crucial in determining its overall box office trajectory.
