New Delhi, Feb 18: In a swift operation, the Delhi Police on Tuesday rescued a three-day-old baby boy who was kidnapped from a government hospital in Rohini and arrested two persons, including a woman, in connection with the case.
The infant was abducted from the labour room of Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital, Sector-6, Rohini, in the early hours of February 17. Police said the child was traced and recovered within hours of the registration of the case.

According to officials, North Rohini Police Station received a PCR call around 9 am reporting the kidnapping. The complaint was lodged by the 30-year-old mother of the newborn, a housewife, who had been admitted to the hospital on February 12 and delivered a baby boy on February 14.
In her statement, the woman alleged that an unidentified woman, around 30 years old, had been frequently visiting her during her stay in the hospital and had gradually gained her trust. On February 17, at around 5 am, the woman allegedly took the newborn in her lap and asked the mother to rest.
The mother reportedly fell asleep. When she woke up around 8 am, she found both the woman and the baby missing. Her husband, a labourer, immediately alerted the police through a PCR call.
Based on the complaint, an FIR under Section 137(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered at North Rohini Police Station and an investigation was launched.
Police formed multiple teams to trace the missing infant. Hospital staff and security personnel were questioned, and CCTV footage was examined as part of the probe.
“On the basis of technical surveillance and human intelligence, the kidnapped child was recovered from the Delhi-Meerut Expressway,” a senior police official said.
The baby was found with two persons — a 40-year-old woman identified as Rani (name changed) and a 20-year-old man, Ahibaran Saxena. Both have been arrested.
Police said further investigation is underway to ascertain the motive behind the kidnapping and to determine whether more persons were involved in the crime.
