Ponda, Feb 13: A rupture in the main water distribution pipeline at Dhavali on Thursday afternoon led to disruption of supply in several areas, including Kavlem, Ramnathi, Bandora and parts of Ponda town such as Khadapabandh.

Officials from the Water Division rushed to the site after the leak was detected and shut down the affected line to prevent further loss. Repair work continued until late in the evening.

According to a department official, the pipeline burst occurred near the Shree Satyanarayan Temple. While the exact cause of the rupture remains unclear, authorities immediately initiated corrective measures.

To facilitate repairs, water supply to the impacted localities was temporarily halted so that the pipeline could be emptied. The damaged line carries potable water from the Opa Water Treatment Plant to the affected regions.

Officials said water supply will be restored once the repair work is completed and the system is stabilised.
