Udupi: Niraamaya College of Nursing holds lamp lighting, oath taking ceremony

Udupi, Feb 13: Niraamaya College of Nursing, Bantakal, a unit of SODE Group of Institutions, Udupi, held ‘Lamp-Lighting and Oath Taking Ceremony’ for the 3rd batch of BSc nursing students at seminar hall on February 6.

The programme began with invoking God’s Blessing followed by lighting of the inaugural lamp and paying floral tribute to Florence nightingale.

The chief guest, Dr Suja Karkada, spoke about the significance of lamp lighting and oath taking ceremony and encouraged the students to inculcate values and skills of nursing profession.

The core of the function was passing of lights by the dignitaries to the budding nurses. The oath was administered by Roshani Rodrigues and the students recited the oath with sincerity and pride.

The guest of honor, Dr Radhakrishna S Aithal, highlighted that nursing is a caring, compassion, cherishing, consoling, and soothing for the needy at the time of distress and pain.

Dr Naveen M Ballal addressed the students regarding the qualities of the nursing profession.

The welcome address was delivered by Shraddha S Kanchan. Loretta Veena D’Silva, lecturer proposed the vote of thanks. Jenifer Mathias compared the event and the program ended with the national anthem.
