Mangaluru: Blood donation camp held at Expert PU College, Valachil

Mangaluru Feb 4: Expert Pre-University College, Valachil, Mangaluru, in association with KMC Hospital Blood Centre, Attavar, organised a blood donation camp.

The programme commenced with the lighting of the lamp. Dr. Ranjitha Rao, associate professor of Pathology & Blood Bank Officer, KMC Attavar, addressed the gathering on the significance of blood donation and emphasised that blood is the sanjeevini for a needy patient and expressed gratitude to the Expert College for organising such a camp.

Prof. Narendra L Nayak, chairman, Expert said that blood donation is also a great charity as it saves precious lives and hoped that the Dakshina Kannada district will lead even in this social responsibility. Dr Ushaprabha N Nayak, vice chairperson; Ankush N Nayak, IT director; and Dr N K Vijayan Karippal, principal; Subramanya Udupa, vice principal (Academics); Druthi V Hegde, vice principal (administration) and members of the staff were present on the occasion. Chelsea Dipali Singh accorded a cordial welcome to the gathering, hosted the program and proposed vote of thanks.

Prof Nayak led the camp by donating blood first. Medical screening and donation procedures were then carried out under the supervision of Dr Ranjitha Rao and her dedicated team from KMC Hospital. A total of 102 donors including staff members of the Expert and general public participated enthusiastically.
