Mangaluru: St Aloysius Gonzaga School hosts 'Little Champions’ Sports Day'

Mangaluru, Jan 31: St Aloysius Gonzaga School celebrated the pre-primary Sports Day on January 30 at the school ground with great enthusiasm. Gawtham Shetty president of Dakshina Kannada District Table Tennis Association and vice president of Karnataka State Table Tennis Association graced the occasion as the chief guest.

He appreciated the young participants and spoke on the importance of good health, hygiene, discipline, and an active lifestyle. He urged students to avoid junk food and excessive mobile use, wake up early, and take part in sports, concluding with the motivating thought, “Always say I am the best.”

In his address, Fr Rohan D'Almeida, SJ, principal, shared that life is God’s play and a game we must play well, highlighting teamwork, mutual support, and gratitude. The chief guest was escorted to the dais by Fr Rohan D'Almeida, SJ, vice principal Aparna Suresh, PE teachers, and the event coordinators.

The Sports Day 2025-26 was inaugurated with a torch ceremony and declared open by the chief guest. The programme began with a prayer song by KG I students, followed by a welcome by Eva Pereira of KG II A. KG II students presented the significance of the day through sports personalities.

Energetic Zumba and colourful umbrella display added charm, followed by the finals of various games.

The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony. The programme was compered by Clara Maria, with the vote of thanks by Rihanna Lasrado and Manya Bhandarkar of KG II C. The event was coordinated by Clara Maria and Mishal Crasta along with PE teachers.
