Washington, Jan 30: The United States Navy has deployed an additional warship to the Middle East, further strengthening its military presence in the region amid rising tensions, a US official said on Thursday.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, the official told Reuters that the USS Delbert D. Black entered the Middle East in the past 48 hours. With this deployment, the number of US Navy destroyers operating in the region has risen to six.

The Middle East currently also hosts a US aircraft carrier and three littoral combat ships, reflecting a significant American military buildup as tensions continue to escalate.

The arrival of the USS Delbert D. Black further underscores Washington’s focus on reinforcing its naval capabilities in the strategically sensitive region.
