Patna, Jan 29: Law and order concerns intensified in Bihar’s Jehanabad district on Thursday after six police personnel were injured in a violent attack, the second such incident targeting law enforcement within a span of 24 hours.
According to officials, a team from the Excise Department reached Sheikhpura Nat Toli under the Ghosi police station limits at around 5 am to conduct a raid against illegal liquor operations. As the raid got underway, a group of anti-social elements allegedly ambushed the team, launching a sudden and coordinated attack.

The assailants reportedly used sticks and other weapons, leaving several policemen with serious injuries. The injured have been identified as Sangam Kumar, Vikas Kumar, Chandan Kumar, Santosh Kumar, Manoj Kumar Gupta, Anish Kumar, and Ajay Kumar. All were rushed to Jehanabad Sadar Hospital, where they remain under medical care.
Senior police officials reached the spot soon after being alerted. Authorities said the attackers have been identified and raids are being intensified to arrest those involved. A detailed investigation into the incident is currently underway.
The attack comes close on the heels of another violent episode reported on Wednesday at Gulabganj market under the Shakurabad police station area. During an anti-encroachment drive, a joint team of district administration and police faced stone-pelting from a section of locals, injuring two police personnel.
The drive was being carried out in compliance with High Court directions, officials said. However, as the operation began, some anti-social elements allegedly resorted to violence, triggering chaos and a stampede-like situation in the busy market area.
Additional police forces were immediately deployed from the police lines, and senior district officials arrived with reinforcements to bring the situation under control. The incident was videographed, and efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest those responsible.
The district administration has warned that strict legal action will be taken against all individuals involved in the attacks. Meanwhile, police and civil authorities remain focused on restoring calm and ensuring law and order in the affected areas.
