Apple TV+ confirms ‘Ted Lasso’ Season 4: Jason Sudeikis returns to coach a women’s team

Mumbai, Jan 29: After what many considered a perfect ending to Season 3, Apple TV+ has officially confirmed that ‘Ted Lasso’ will return for Season 4 this summer. First-look photos released online tease the return of fan favourites along with some new faces joining the series.

Jason Sudeikis reprises his Emmy-winning role as Ted Lasso, who now faces the challenge of coaching a second-division women’s football team. The images show Ted alongside Coach Beard (Brendan Hunt) and a new assistant coach played by Tanya Reynolds (‘Sex Education’). Another still features Ted with Rebecca Welton (Hannah Waddingham) in front of the Richmond jet, hinting at the journey to Kansas for his new coaching role. Season 4 is expected to pick up after the events of Season 3, beginning in Kansas.

The announcement has generated a mixed response among fans. Some questioned the need for a fourth season after Season 3’s emotional and satisfying conclusion.

One tweet read, “Why the hell is Apple TV making a 4th season of Ted Lasso? The show wrapped up perfectly in season 3… Pure cash grab—greed trumping creativity once again.”

Others expressed doubts but curiosity: “Like any TV show that finished and came back, I have serious doubts about Season 4 of Ted Lasso… hope it’s good, but it just feels like a cash grab.”

However, many fans have warmed to the idea, seeing it as a chance for more positivity and humour in challenging times. A fan tweeted, “I was staunchly against a season 4… but at this point, I think the world could use some more Ted Lasso. I have decided this is good news.”

Season 4 will reunite much of the original ensemble cast, including Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift. New additions to the series include Jude Mack, Faye Marsey, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, and Abbie Hern.

Jason Sudeikis had previously confirmed Season 4 during a podcast with Travis Kelce and Jason Kelce in March 2025, revealing that the show is now following Ted as he takes on a women’s football team.

Fans can look forward to a mix of familiar faces, new challenges, and the heartwarming comedy that has made ‘Ted Lasso’ a global hit.
