Mangaluru: St Theresa’s School inaugurates revitalized science laboratory

Mangaluru, Jan 23: St Theresa’s School, Bendur, marked a significant milestone on Friday, January 23, at 11 am, with the inauguration of its revitalized science laboratory. The occasion coincided with the 151st birth anniversary of the visionary founder, Servant of God RFC Mascarenhas, adding deeper meaning to the event. The programme reflected the institution’s commitment to strengthening scientific learning through enhanced practical exposure.

The programme began with an introduction highlighting the importance of the revitalized laboratory in fostering curiosity, innovation, and hands-on learning among students. This was followed by a general welcome, extending warm greetings to the dignitaries, staff members, and students present.

The highlight of the programme was the ribbon-cutting ceremony by Sr Shaila, central delegation superior, symbolising the formal inauguration of the revitalized science laboratory, followed by other dignitaries. As part of the laboratory upgradation, the revitalized lab board titled “Upgrade to Learn, Discover and Explore” was unveiled by Dr Vaishali Rai, assistant professor, St Aloysius (Deemed to be University).

A solemn blessing was offered by Fr Vivek Deepak Pinto, assistant parish priest, Bendur, assisted by Sr Lourdes, principal of St Theresa’s School, invoking God’s grace for the fruitful use of the laboratory and the academic growth of the students.

Vikash Kumar Prasad, government public sector officer, addressed the gathering and spoke on the importance of well-equipped laboratories in nurturing scientific temperament and promoting experiential learning. He appreciated the management’s vision and the efforts being made towards upgrading the school to the ISC level, highlighting its relevance for students following the ICSE syllabus.

Sr Shaila, in her address, expressed her joy and appreciation for the collective efforts that made the revitalization possible and encouraged students to make effective use of the upgraded facilities.

Adding colour and vibrancy to the programme, students presented a scientific mash-up, showcasing creative experiments and demonstrations that reflected their enthusiasm and innovative spirit. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging all those who contributed to the successful conduct of the event.
