Ujjain, Jan 20: Two boys aged 13 and 15 escaped from a government-run remand home in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain district late on Tuesday night, police said.

The incident occurred at the facility located in the Lalpur area under the Nagjhiri police station limits. According to police, the boys broke the iron grill of a bathroom window and fled, managing to evade the security guards on duty.

City Superintendent of Police (CSP) Shweta Gupta said one of the boys had been lodged in the remand home for the past three months, while the other had been staying there for nearly a year. One of the minors sought permission to use the bathroom late at night, broke the grill and escaped, and the second boy followed shortly thereafter.

The staff launched a search when the boys failed to return, following which the police were informed. Search teams have been formed to trace the runaway minors, police added.
