Mumbai, Jan 20: Bollywood playback singer Neha Kakkar has firmly dismissed rumours of a possible divorce with husband and fellow singer Rohanpreet Singh, following a wave of speculation triggered by her recent social media posts.
The speculation began after Neha shared a series of Instagram Stories announcing that she was taking a break from “responsibilities, relationships, and work”. The posts, which were deleted within minutes, sparked widespread chatter online, with several users linking them to trouble in her marriage.
Responding to the rumours, the Candy Shop singer issued a clarification, requesting fans and critics not to involve her husband or family in discussions about her personal struggles.
“Guys please don’t drag my innocent husband or my sweetest family in all this please! They are the purest people I know and whatever I am today, it’s because of their support,” Neha wrote. She clarified that her distress was directed at “a few other people and the system”, and not her family.
Acknowledging her emotional reaction on social media, Neha added that she had learnt her lesson, noting how “Rai ka pahaad kaise banaya jaata hai” — a reference to how small matters are often exaggerated online.
The singer further said she would refrain from sharing details of her personal life going forward. “Ab se I’m not going to talk about my personal life bhaisahab!!!! Bechari emotional Nehu is too emotional for this world! Sorry and thank you my NeHearts. Don’t worry, I’ll be back soon with a bang! Much love,” she wrote.
Neha and Rohanpreet tied the knot in October 2020 and have since been seen together frequently, both in their personal lives and professional collaborations. Her latest statement appears to be a clear attempt to shut down divorce rumours and reaffirm her bond with her husband.
Earlier on Monday, Neha had posted messages requesting paparazzi and fans not to film her and to respect her privacy. “This is the least you all can give me for my peace,” she had written, before deleting the posts.
While celebrity social media activity often fuels speculation, Neha’s clarification has sought to put an end to the rumours and underline that her family remains her strongest support system.
