Daijiworld Media Network – Patna

Patna, Jan 18: After New Delhi, the Bihar government has decided to construct a Bihar Bhawan in Mumbai on the lines of the existing Bihar Bhawan in the national capital, with a detailed project plan already prepared.

Building Construction Department Secretary Kumar Ravi said the proposed Bihar Bhawan will come up at Elephant Estate in the Mumbai Port Trust area. The building, planned to be around 30 storeys high including a basement, will be equipped with modern facilities to cater to administrative and public needs.

The state cabinet has granted administrative approval of Rs 314.20 crore for the project, which is expected to expedite the construction process. Kumar Ravi said the Bihar Bhawan will provide space for government work, official meetings and accommodation.

Special arrangements will also be made for patients from Bihar who travel to Mumbai for treatment of cancer and other serious ailments, along with facilities for their family members. He described the project as a significant step towards the state’s development and public welfare.

As per the plan, the Bihar Bhawan will be constructed on about 0.68 acre of land and will rise to nearly 69 metres from ground level. The building will house a total of 178 rooms, along with a dormitory having a capacity of 240 beds for patients and attendants.

The project will also feature sensor-based smart triple and double-decker parking facilities with space for 233 vehicles. Other proposed amenities include a 72-seat conference hall, a cafeteria, a medical room and other essential facilities.
