Low antioxidant diet may worsen rosacea, study finds

Daijiworld Media Network - New Delhi

New Delhi, Jan 18: A new study published in Archives of Dermatological Research suggests that low dietary antioxidant intake could increase systemic oxidative stress in people suffering from rosacea, a chronic inflammatory skin disorder.

Rosacea, marked by facial redness, visible blood vessels, and pustules, affects millions globally. Researchers analyzed participants’ diets and antioxidant levels to explore whether reduced antioxidant intake is linked to heightened oxidative stress—a condition where free radicals outweigh the body’s defenses, causing inflammation and tissue damage.

The findings indicate that individuals with lower antioxidant consumption may experience increased oxidative stress, potentially influencing the severity of rosacea. Experts say further research is needed to understand the connection and how dietary choices could help manage the condition.
