New Delhi, Jan 16: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday announced the schedule for the election of its national president, with nominations set to be filed on January 19 and the new party chief’s name to be declared the following day.
According to the organisational poll schedule issued by BJP national returning officer and Rajya Sabha MP K Laxman, nominations can be submitted between 2 pm and 4 pm on January 19, with withdrawals allowed from 5 pm to 6 pm the same day. Scrutiny of the nomination papers will take place from 4 pm to 5 pm.

Polling, if required, will be conducted on January 20, with the official announcement of the newly elected national president made on the same day. The entire process will be held at the party headquarters in New Delhi.
Party sources indicated that BJP national working president Nitin Nabin is expected to be elected unopposed, succeeding J P Nadda. Nabin enjoys the support of the party’s top leadership, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.
